Synopsis: Geum Jan Di is from a poor family and is admitted to the prestigious Shinhwa High School after stopping a student who was being bullied from committing suicide. Shinhwa High was established by Shinhwa Group, the biggest conglomerate in Korea, and is attended by the scions of the wealthiest families. At Shinhwa, she finds that a group of rich and good-looking boys called “F4″ (”Flower 4″ or “Flamboyant 4″) who enjoys tremendous popularity. The F4, however, thinks nothing of humiliating others, and often issues a “red card”. Whoever finds the dreaded red card in his or her locker subsequently becomes the target of bullying by the entire student body. Jan Di detests all this circus, but receives a red card herself and is bullied, after she stands up for one of her fellow classmates. Eventually, she begins to have feelings for one of the F4, Ji-hoo, but also discovers that the leader of the group, Jun Pyo, is falling for her, too. The story begins when Jan Di, a common girl from a humble family gets a scholarship in a prestigious university for the rich and famous teens, Shin Hwa. Given her modest stature, she becomes an easy target of everybody’s scrutiny and is immediately treated as an outcast. She then eventually proves that behind the plain-looking girl lies an optimistic and unyielding spirit who can stand up against anyone, even the most popular four demigods of the school, also known as F4 or Flower Four. Hundreds of fans came to ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theatre last Friday, March 8, to attend the advance screening of the Tagalized version of the most awaited Koreanovela of the year, Boys Over Flowers. Prior to the film-showing, they proved how much they knew about the members of its cast by actively participating in a game hosted by everyone’s best friend, Laila Chikadora of WRR 101.9. Then they couldn’t help screaming in excitement as the film began and Shinwa’s heartthrobs, also known as the F4, came onscreen. But the long wait is over for the rest of the Filipino viewers as Boys Over Flowers premieres on national television this Monday on Primetime Bida.
Get ready to fall in love with Gu Jun Pyo (Lee Min-Ho), Yoon Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun-Joong), So Yi Jeong (Kim Bum), and Song Woo Bin (Kim Joon) whose lives change as they cross paths with Geum Jan Di (Koo Hye-Sun), a girl from a middle class family who unexpectedly gets a scholarship in their exclusive school for the elite. While most of the students there are in awe of the F4’s power and wealth, Jan Di is the only one brave enough to stand against them and defy their stupid rules. At first, her tough personality irritates the hell out of F4’s leader Jun Pyo but the latter gradually gets smitten by Jan Di’s honesty and kind heart.
